Kerri is the owner of Genesis Salon. She has been a stylist in the hair industry for over 25 years. What inspires Kerri the most about doing hair is making people feel good about themselves and watching them leave happy. Kerri loves working with short and curly hair, and specializes in colour, but she is a dynamic stylist that always leaves her clients smiling and feeling great.
Kerri didn’t always know she would be a hair stylist. When she was young she wanted to go to nursing school, but thought she would give her high school cosmetology program a try—she loved it!
Monica | Senior Stylist
Monica has been doing hair for a total of 35 years, almost 30 of which she has spent at Genesis Salon. What does Monica love most about doing hair? Making people feel great; nothing is more satisfying than watching her clients leave her chair with a smile on their face, feeling better than when they came in.
Monica finds that the most rewarding aspect of being a stylist is all the great conversations she gets to share with her clients. As an industry professional, she loves making people feel great about themselves — hair is the one thing we can change.
Laura | Senior Stylist
Laura is currently on maternity leave, returning December 2024.
Laura has been a stylist for over 20 years, and she would still argue that it doesn’t feel like work, because the hair industry is so creative. She still loves to better her education with hair shows and classes about the newest hair trends. Her favourite aspect of being a stylist is getting to connect with the clients in her chair every day and being a part of a salon with such an easy-going environment. Laura’s favourite is doing hair for weddings and formal occasions.
Rochelle | Senior Stylist
Rochelle has been doing hair for over 25 years, and still feels inspired by it every day. She loves being able to make her clients happy and feel great with the instant change and gratification that hairstyling brings. Rochelle’s start in the hair industry actually began because her mom made her give it a try, but then she fell in love! If you ask her what she loves doing, she would tell you it’s creating precision haircuts — like creating the perfect bob!
Laura M. | Senior Stylist
Laura has been working in the hair industry for over 20 years after beginning her career as an apprentice. Laura’s inspiration comes from the brilliant work of the stylists around her and the unique creations of stylists on social media. She finds that nothing is more rewarding about her job than having clients feel better about themselves because of the work she created. She cherishes her clients and the relationships she has built over the years.
Alysha | Senior Stylist
Young Alysha was obsessed with hair and learning how to do it all. In Grade 10 she started the cosmetology program where she could learn a skill that she was passionate about turning into a career. Alysha started at Genesis in 2007, working in the salon where she was previously a client.
Now, years later Alysha is a senior stylist—a dream come true. She loves attending hair shows and furthering her education. As new hair trends arise, she is eager to learn and incorporate them for her clients. Her passion for hair is colour, colour colour! She loves foils, blonde balayage and cutting free-flowing layers—creating the whole picture!
Jaime | Senior Stylist
Jaime has been in the hair industry for 24 years. Making people happy is what she loves most about doing hair; nothing is more rewarding than having clients feel great about themselves. As a professional in the hair industry, Jaime loves working with colour, foil highlights and natural curly hair textures.
Jaime enrolled in cosmetology in high school thinking it would be a fun experience. It never occurred to her that creating beautiful hairstyles and meeting wonderful people could be such a rewarding career. She feels blessed to have found her passion so early in her life and looks forward to many more years of doing what she loves.
Sheryl | Senior Stylist
Sheryl has been in the hair industry for almost 30 years. She loves creating something new and unique for every client in her chair while enjoying great conversations. Sheryl is passionate about colour corrections and working with short hair. She also loves to get her hands in a beautiful head of curls, including those with a perm.
Education is still important to Sheryl. With vintage hairstyles trending again, it’s fun to see how she can incorporate new techniques to make them work for today’s styles. Observing her coworkers’ styling techniques always inspires her to step up her game.
Sarah | Senior Stylist
Sarah is a hair stylist, with more than 10 years of experience in the industry and she is now a Kevin Murphy gold styling key. She has extensive knowledge of Kevin Murphy products and gets to share and teach it to other stylists. She loves that her job allows her to be creative every day and help people feel great about themselves.
Sarah loves doing updos for special occasions and transforming her clients with some highlight fun; both are instant and creative ways to change a client’s look. Like most girls, Sarah loved doing her hair and her friends’ hair—her biggest inspirations for choosing this career.
Cara | Stylist
Cara found her love for the beauty industry back in high school. She’s been doing hair for over 10 years and has loved every day of it. What inspires her the most about the industry is that it’s forever changing; the possibilities are endless. Of all the things she gets to do from behind the chair, Cara’s absolute favourite is balayage—it’s sun-kissed and lived-in and always customized for each client.
Kallee | Stylist
Kallee is currently on maternity leave, returning September 2024.
Kallee has been in the industry for over five years and has loved every second of it. She knew at a young age that hair was her passion and started pursuing it in grade 10 cosmetology, proceeding to finish her training at MC College.
Kallee is certified in extensions and is eager to help clients reach their hair goals. She loves doing everything from cuts to all-over colours. Her biggest passions are balayage, foils and anything colour. Kallee loves making her clients feel confident. After all, hair is the crown you never take off!
Brooke | Stylist
Brooke entered the hair industry in 2020 and joined the Genesis team in 2021 as an apprentice. In 2023 she joined the rest of the stylists on the floor to become a service provider.
Since she was a little girl, Brooke knew her passion laid in hair styling. Even now, she feels her love for this line of work is as strong as ever. She has a deep appreciation for all things beauty and enjoys offering a wide range of services to her clients. Her specialities include foils and updos.
Brooke believes in the importance of continuous learning. By staying up to date with the latest hair education and trends, she can confidently offer her clients the styles and techniques that best suit their individual needs.
